ANAMA Chairman briefs UN Assistant Secretary-General about landmine problem

Vugar Suleymanov, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), met with Ivana Zivkovic, the Assistant Secretary-General of the UN and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Report informs, citing ANAMA.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the establishment of the ANAMA-UNDP International Excellence and Training Center for Mine Action in Azerbaijan.

Suleymanov informed Zivkovic about the landmine problem in Azerbaijan, the threats it poses to people's lives, health, and the environment, and the activities carried out to eliminate this issue.

Zivkovic, visiting Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29, noted that the international event was organized at a high level in Azerbaijan and emphasized that landmine action is one of the most important areas for UNDP in Azerbaijan.
