ANAMA: Azerbaijan conducts humanitarian demining using advanced technologies

Humanitarian demining activities in Azerbaijan are carried out in line with International Mine Action Standards using some of the most modern and advanced technologies available worldwide, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov said at a panel session held as part of Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.

According to him, Azerbaijan is ready to further develop its experience in mine action and expand cooperation with international partners:

"During clearance operations, equipment such as detectors and magnetic locators for detecting mines and explosive devices, deep-search equipment, and DGPS systems for accurately obtaining geographic coordinates in the field are used. Special-purpose mechanical demining equipment is also used in survey and clearance operations, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles for more accurate examination and surveying of areas.

"The aim is both to maximize safety and to organize the work process more efficiently. We believe that artificial intelligence, digital technologies and early warning mechanisms can make an important contribution to protecting human lives, reducing risks and ensuring safe development."
