Analyst: Turkey, Azerbaijan important allies for US

“Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of the US on security issues. We have always supported the White House administration on this issue, took part in NATO missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and even Kosovo,” Azerbaijani political analyst Tofig Abbasov told Report.

Abbasov was commenting on the start of the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan in May and the possibility of providing a transit corridor for this.

He also noted that Turkey and Georgia will also demonstrate such an approach.

The expert also stressed that Turkey and Azerbaijan are important allies for the US.

“As for the blow inflicted by the American president on the interests of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Biden’s words about the recognition of the so-called ‘genocide’ mean absolutely nothing and are the private opinion of an official. When politicians represented by Pashinyan, Kocharyan and others say that ‘finally justice has triumphed,’ I just want to ask the question ‘where did it triumph, what has changed?’ This is just a verbal support to the Armenian segment (of the US). There is no such mechanism that could convert this verbal support into a material component. Americans aren’t that stupid to take such steps towards Armenia,” Abbasov said.

“At the same time, the US ambassador to Armenia stated that there will be no changes in relations between Turkey and the United States, since they have allied relations and are in the same rank in NATO. Biden’s statement doesn’t change anything except the mentality of the Armenian people and diasporas. The fact is that representatives of the Armenian diaspora abroad have turned the Armenian people living in the Republic of Armenia into their tool of earning their financial, political and image capital,” he concluded.
