"Azerbaijan, having gone through the bitter experience of the occupation of its territories, understands the pain of Pakistan and stands in solidarity with us on the issues of justice regarding Jammu and Kashmir," Ambassador of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee said at an event dedicated to the Day of Mourning for Kashmir, Report informs.
October 27 is annually commemorated as the Day of Mourning for Kashmir.
The Pakistani diplomat stressed that "the suffering of the Kashmiri people intensified after India annulled the special status of these territories on August 5, 2019, repealing Articles 370 and 35-A of the Constitution of India," which had guaranteed broad autonomy to this region.
According to the ambassador, these actions are a clear violation of international law and relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The guests of the event also got acquainted with the photo exhibition featuring photos of Kashmiris who suffered from the Indian occupation.
