Ambassador of Belarus: 'Azerbaijan is our reliable partner'

Azerbaijan is our reliable and most important partner, not in words but in deeds, Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Andrey Ravkov said in an interview with the Novoye Vremya daily newspaper, Report informs via BelTA.

"The economic sphere has always been and remains at the forefront of our partnership, as it gives both parties a real, tangible and mutually beneficial result. A practical confirmation of this is the steady growth in trade, which we brought to almost $1 billion last year alone," said the diplomat.

He drew attention to the fact that this year there is also an increase in trade in the primary commodity items. At the same time, it is especially important that parity is practically observed between the volumes of exports and imports.

"An important role is played by the import of fruits and vegetables from Azerbaijan to Belarus. For example, we tripled the purchase of tomatoes this year," said Andrey Ravkov, adding that a landmark project for the two countries was the cooperation of Belarusian machine builders with the Ganja Automobile Plant, which showed an excellent example of effective interaction in industrial cooperation.

"Over 15 years, more than 12,000 Belarus tractors have been assembled in Ganja, as well as about 4,000 units of other Belarusian equipment," noted the envoy.

The ambassador noted that following the results of the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission in June 2022, a protocol was signed, "the result of which was the further intensification of interaction across the entire spectrum of bilateral trade and economic relations and the entry into new mutually beneficial projects."
