Ambassador: Malaysia ready to work together with Azerbaijan at COP29

An official reception was held in Baku on the occasion of Malaysia's National Day, Report informs.

Speaking at the event, Malaysian Ambassador Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza noted that the two countries continue multilateral cooperation through platforms such as the UN, Non-Aligned Movement, and Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

"As COP29 approaches, we are committed to working hand-in-hand with Azerbaijan and its agenda on climate action, ensuring our efforts align with global goals to protect the environment," the ambassador said.

The diplomat noted that Azerbaijan has participated in the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) since 1986:

"To date, 265 Azerbaijani MTCP alum members have benefited from various courses. Through our collaboration with Azerbaijani partners, we recently hosted a familiarisation trip for Azerbaijani bloggers, influencers, and travel agents, showcasing the beauty and diversity of Malaysia."

He said that Malaysia will be the chair of ASEAN in 2025: "Our objective and target as the chairman is to steer ASEAN towards its objective of strengthening unity and centrality through dialogue, diplomacy and goodwill."

Report informs that the event, organized by the Malaysian Embassy in Azerbaijan, began with the playing of both countries' national anthems.

The event is attended by Malaysian Ambassador Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza, with the Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev as the guest of honor. Among the guests are representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, including the Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Katsuya Watanabe, Pakistani Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin, and Saudi Arabian Ambassador Essam bin Saleh.
