Baku. 14 September. REPORT.AZ / Azerbaijan and Turkey have always been and will be side by side, the liberation of Baku from the occupation by the joint forces of the Caucasian Islamic army and Azerbaijani corps is yet another proof of this.

Report informs that Turkish Ambassador Erkan Özaral made the due statement at the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Baku’s liberation from the Armenian-Bolshevik occupation held at the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan has experienced many difficult days and today, thanks to God, now it is an independent and prosperous country. The events that happened 100 years ago once again prove our closeness and brotherhood. This closeness prepared us for today and tomorrow. We are two States and one nation," the Ambassador said.

Director of the National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, Naila Valihanli in her turn noted that exactly a hundred years ago the sons of Azerbaijan and Turkey demonstrated the strong brotherhood and unity of the peoples during the liberation of Baku side by side.

“The friendship and brotherhood of the Turkic nations have been inherited from ancient times”. Only a Turk can be a friend of a Turk. We proved it in 1918 when we united against a common enemy," she added.

Azerbaijani and Turkish soldiers liberated Baku from Bolshevik-Dashnak occupation and ensured Azerbaijan's independence on September 15, 1918. After this historic date, the capital of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was moved from Ganja to Baku.
