Ambassador: Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan ensures stability in South Caucasus

Cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan ensures peace and stability in the South Caucasus region, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze said at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, according to Report.

"Over the course of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, our countries have carried out successful cooperation aimed at peace and stability in the South Caucasus region," he said.

According to the ambassador, Georgia and Azerbaijan have always defended and supported each other's territorial integrity.

The ambassador stressed that the recent visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Georgia in October 2022 created new opportunities for expanding economic and cultural cooperation between the countries.

In turn, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev noted that the two countries are successfully cooperating in the field of investment, fuel and energy, agriculture, transport, customs, humanitarian, tourism and other industries.

"An important role is played by the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between our countries, which serves as a platform for further expansion of bilateral ties," the minister said, adding that such projects as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipelines, the South Caucasus gas pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi -Kars railway, implemented by joint efforts, play a decisive role in the energy security of not only the South Caucasus region, but also the European Union, and the establishment of East-West transport links.
