Ambassador: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan are actively developing cooperation in development of Middle Corridor

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are actively developing cooperation in the development of the Middle Corridor, said Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel at an event dedicated to the Republic Day of Kazakhstan, Report informs.

“This year is important because Azerbaijan has completely managed to restore its territorial integrity. Today's geopolitical situation in the world remains difficult, but it creates an opportunity to demonstrate friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan,” the ambassador said.

Bayel noted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are intensively developing cooperation in many areas.

“Dialogue between our presidents is an important factor underlying our relations. This year, trade turnover increased by 60%. Today, citizens of Kazakhstan make up almost half of the tourists coming to Azerbaijan from Central Asia. Together we are developing the Middle Corridor - an important project connecting East and West. In 2023, the volume of cargo transported along this route increased by 85%. This year, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan also began laying a fiber optic cable across the Caspian Sea, which is an important part of the digital telecommunications corridor between Europe and Asia,” the diplomat said.

“We also plan to increase the transportation of our oil through Azerbaijan and expect this volume to reach several million tons per year,” the ambassador added.
