Ambassador: Azerbaijan actively pursues green development strategy

Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, hosted an economic forum themed "Green Development in the SPECA Region," Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Tajikistan told Report.

According to the embassy, Azerbaijan was represented at the event by Ambassador Alimirzamin Askarov.

In his speech at the event, the diplomat emphasized that the forum plays a crucial role in deepening cooperation among the countries of the region and developing new initiatives for a sustainable and green future.

Askarov noted that the topic of "Green Development in the SPECA Region" is being discussed at an appropriate time, taking into account the current global challenges such as climate change, depletion of natural resources, and the urgent need to transition to sustainable economic growth models.

The ambassador stressed that to achieve this transition, there is a need not only for the transformation of energy systems but also for the adoption of innovative strategies for resource sustainability, ecosystem protection, and the creation of new employment opportunities in the green sector.

Azerbaijan, recognizing its responsibility in this area, actively continues its green development strategy aimed at increasing energy efficiency, developing renewable energy sources, and reducing carbon emissions, the diplomat added. He also highlighted that Azerbaijan participates in strategic green financing programs on its own initiative.

The ambassador also pointed out that the SPECA region has significant potential for the development of integrated and mutually beneficial solutions in the field of green development:

"Combining efforts can ensure efficient use of natural resources, reduce carbon emissions, and increase the resilience of economies in the face of environmental problems. Azerbaijan is ready to continue playing an active role in these processes by offering its experience and resources to achieve common goals."
