The honorary status of CIS Cultural Capital will allow Lachin to properly present all its cultural wealth and diversity, Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
According to Asadov, close interaction between CIS countries allows solving all tasks in an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding.
"Baku attaches great importance to cooperation within the framework of the interstate program 'Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth.' As known, according to the decision of the Council of Heads of State on October 8 this year, the city of Lachin was declared the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth for 2025. The liberated Lachin is being restored rapidly today. Large-scale infrastructure and social projects aimed at returning life and economic prosperity are being swiftly implemented in the city with majestic nature and centuries-old history," said Asadov.
According to the politician, more than 2,000 former internally displaced persons have already returned to Lachin, and next year the Lachin International Airport will be commissioned.
"I am convinced that the honorary status of CIS Cultural Capital will allow the city of Lachin to worthily present all its cultural wealth and diversity," said Asadov.
Asadov also congratulated the Russian Federation on its successful CIS chairmanship this year and wished success to Tajikistan as chair in 2025.
