"There is not an issue of the idea of Turan in the events in Kazakhstan," Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations, said in an open discussion on the main points voiced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with local media on January 12.
"Some people make untrue comments about the process in Kazakhstan. They even disseminate information that harms Azerbaijan. They say the events in Kazakhstan are aimed at the destruction of the idea of Turan. If we look at the circumstances, we see that the process began with everyday issues. The issue of Turan is not there. China and Russia have more conflicting interests in Central Asia than Turkey-Russia," he stressed.
