11 Azerbaijanis contract COVID-19 in Turkey

The Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkey Khazar Ibrahim disclosed the number of Azerbaijanis who tested positive for coronavirus in Turkey.

“Eleven Azerbaijanis have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in Turkey, six of which have recovered. The other five citizens are undergoing treatment. Their condition is stable,” the Ambassador told Report. 

“The embassy representatives stay in touch with the patients and provide the necessary support,” added the Ambassador.

Turkey recorded 1,977 new cases as of May 8, bringing the tally to 133,721, according to the data from Health Ministry. The death toll from the pandemic rose to 3,641, as Turkey saw 57 more deaths, while 4,782 recovered in the past 24 hours.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 212 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
