Slaven Bilić's former assistant nominated for head coach of Azerbaijani squad

Baku. 4 January. REPORT.AZ/ Former manager of Croatia's Dinamo (Zagreb) Nikola Jurčević has been offered to the main national team of Azerbaijan.

Report informs that the 53-year-old Croatian specialist is currently interested in continuing his career in Azerbaijan. His candidacy was nominated by managers. Jurčević was a team mate with the former head coach of the Azerbaijani national team Robert Prosinečki. He has worked with a well-known figure of Croatian football Slaven Bilić for a long time.

Jurčević served as assistant coach in the Croatian national team (2006-2012), as well as in Russia's Lokomotiv, Turkey's Besiktas and England's West Ham United.

Although N. Jurčević was appointed head coach of Dinamo Zagreb on March 12 last year but was dismissed on May 15 after defeat to Lokomotiv 1: 3 in the 34th round.

Notably, during the meeting of AFFA Executive Committee held in December last year taking into account the results of 2018 year it has decided to terminate the contract with head coach Gurban Gurbanov with the aim of giving him more time for Qarabag FC. The contract was terminated on the basis of mutual agreement.
