Mauricio Pochettino 'agrees' to become USA head coach

Former Chelsea and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly agreed to become the head coach of the USA men’s national team.

According to a story in the Athletic on Thursday, Pochettino will be announced as the new USMNT boss in the coming days.

The Argentine tactician has been out of work since the end of last season having departed Chelsea after just 10 months at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino will replace Gregg Berhalter who was given his marching orders this summer following the USA’s poor performance at the Copa America.

The 52-year-old will be seen as an enormous coup for US soccer with the ex-PSG man having been linked with Manchester United and England over the past few months.

USA will be one of three host countries for the 2026 World Cup.
