Marco Pellegrino has officially joined C.A. Independiente on a season-long loan, as was announced by the Argentine club last night, Report informs via One Football.
The AC Milan defender will be hoping for a much better spell this time out after struggling at Salernitana.
Pellegrino joined Milan for around €3 million ahead of the 2023-24 season, touted as a very interesting defensive prospect. However, he got injured in his debut against Napoli and was sidelines for a few months, after which he joined Salernitana on a six-month loan.
While he did make ten appearances for the team, he failed to have an impact and as such, Milan agreed to send him back to Argentina. He had already begun training with Independiente, but the official statement arrived yesterday.
“The defender arrives on loan from Milan until June 2025, now waiting for the Italian Federation to send the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) so he can play tomorrow in La Plata,” the statement read.
The delay of the statement was due to financial issues of the Argentine club, which now seemingly have been resolved. In any case, Milan will be hoping that Pellegrino can revitalize his career and come back even stronger.
