Lionel Messi 'offered unbeatable three-year contract by PSG

According to reports in Argentina, Lionel Messi has been offered a sensational three-year contract by Paris Saint-Germain as doubts over his Barcelona future continue.

The 33-year-old's contract with the Catalans expires at the end of June but has yet to agree on a new deal with Barcelona after handing in a transfer request a little of nine months ago.

Messi retracted his contract request at the end of August. Still, then Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned in October, and Joan Laporta succeeded him via the elections earlier this year.

But Laporta's quest to keep Messi at the club appears to have become more complex as Argentinian TV outlet TNT Sports claim PSG's offer is 'unbeatable' and that Messi will be offered the number 10 shirt at the French side.

That shirt number is currently held by Neymar, who lined up alongside Messi when the Brazilian forward was at Barcelona before joining PSG for £200million.

Messi has made 42 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions this season. He scored 33 goals and made 14 assists in these matches. The Argentine striker's contract with Barcelona expires on June 30.

Earlier, Forbes announced that Messi was the third highest-paid athlete in 2020. The Argentine footballer earned 104 million euros last year in the form of salaries and bonuses.

Messi also broke another of Pelé's records a few days ago.
