Simone Inzaghi is set to become the highest paid coach in Serie A after finally agreeing the financial details of a new contract with reigning champions Inter, Report informs via Football Italia.
The recent Scudetto winner is set to put pen to paper on a new two-year deal, which will run until the summer of 2026, as per Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia.
The 48-year-old is set to take home a salary of €6.5m per season, not including performance-related add-ons which is even higher than the €6m-per-year (plus bonuses) contract Antonio Conte has recently signed with Napoli.
Inter is expected to have the extension fully wrapped up by Wednesday, with an official announcement to follow shortly afterwards. The coach’s current deal expires at the end of next season, in the summer of 2025.
Inzaghi has been in talks over a renewal for several months, but an agreement was never likely to be reached before the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Inter eventually topped Serie A by a margin of 19 points last season, leading rivals Milan with a tally of 94 to their 75.
Inzaghi also helped guide Inter to their first Champions League final appearance in well over a decade the year before, narrowly missing out on the trophy to the treble-winning Manchester City.
