Financial analysis of Europe's Top-5 leagues on transfers revealed

International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has issued the Financial analysis of big-5 league clubs' transfers, Report informs.

The level of transfer fee expenditure observed in 2022 is the second highest over the ten-year period analyzed: 6.2 billion euros (just about -7% with respect to the record high of 2019).

After the pandemic years, an increase in the transfer costs of the clubs was recorded. This amount was 4.83 billion euros in 2020 and 3.84 billion euros in 2021.

A record was seen in 2019, when 6.69 billion euros were sent on transfers in Europe's Top-5 leagues.

A total of 2.74 billion euros were paid for players in 2013, 2.91 billion euros in 2014, 3.85 billion euros in 2015, 4.24 billion euros in 2016, 6.08 billion euros in 2017, and 5.82 billion euros in 2018.
