Barcelona have issued an ultimatum to the Dutch midfielder Frankie de Jong. The player must either accept a pay cut or leave the club, Report informs, citing Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.
According to prevous reports, head coach of the Catalans Xavi insisted on a 50% pay cut for the Dutch footballer, but neither the player nor the agent accept it.
Frenkie de Jong has been interested in Manchester United for a long time. However, the player considers the move from Barcelona to the Red Devils a step back in his career.
De Jong’s current contract with Barcelona runs until June 30, 2026. The midfielder played in 32 La Liga games last season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
