Barcelona extends contract with Mingueza

Barcelona has decided today to exercise its option to extend the contract of center back Òscar Mingueza, who will therefore be remaining at the club until 30 June 2023, Report informs. The player put pen to paper in the company of president Joan Laporta at the Ciutat Esportiva.

Defender's contract extended to 30 June 2023 with his buyout clause set at 100 million euros.

Óscar Mingueza, born 13 May 1999 in Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona), has spent his whole life at FC Barcelona. From U10B through to Barça B, he made his debut on 27 July 2016 in a friendly against Llagostera at the tender age of 17; he has played at every level, though he didn't become a permanent part of the reserve squad until 2018/19. Ronald Koeman called on his services for the senior team for the first time last November, and he has been with the team ever since.

Mingueza made his official debut on 24 November 2020 in the Champions League group stage against Dynamo Kyiv, a 4-0 win for Barça, with Mingueza himself giving the assist for Braithwaite to score the second.
