Baku to host UEFA Executive Committee meeting for the first time

Baku. 6 February. REPORT.AZ/ The next meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee will be held in Baku on 29 May.

Report informs citing the official website of the European Football Association that the meeting will be held on the eve of the European League final match to take place at the Baku Olympic Stadium. The venue and agenda of the meeting to be held in Azerbaijan for the first time has not been announced yet.

The main issue on the agenda of the meeting that has kicked off in Rome today will be the election of the UEFA Presidential. The only candidate for this position is the current head of the organization, Aleksander Čeferin. The candidacy of the Slovenian functionary was supported by most national federations, including AFFA. The election was scheduled for February 7.

In addition to the president of UEFA, 8 members will be elected for 4 years to the Executive Committee. At least 1 of the members must be a women. The vice-president at FIFA Council will also be elected.

More attention will be paid to the preparation for the Euro 2020. As the 60th anniversary of UEFA will be marked next year, the European Championship matches will be held in 12 cities, including Baku. The Games will be held on June 12 - July 12.
