World Bank expands cooperation with Azerbaijan

The Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication hosted an online meeting with Sarah Michael, the World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the Center.

The executive director of the organization, Vusal Gasimli, briefed about the dynamics of the economy during the post-pandemic and the development achieved due to systematic support measures.

The support of the World Bank in the preparation of economic, social, and institutional reforms implemented during the five years of the Center's activity and especially in strengthening the monitoring and evaluation capacity was highly appreciated. The meeting also stressed the importance of the traditional "Knowledge Exhibitions" held by the Center according to the World Bank's assessment reports on logistics, trade, agriculture, education, and other sectors. The sides noted the prospects for future cooperation in restoring liberated areas, the "smart village" development plan, the study of regional logistics and trade opportunities.

In particular, the parties noted the support of the World Bank for the integration of the Center into international monitoring and evaluation organizations and the implementation of joint projects. Expressing satisfaction with the usefulness and results-based cooperation with the Center, Ms. Sarah Michael spoke about the work done by the World Bank on human capital development, finance, "smart village." The online session noted that cooperation with the Center would continue in the sectors discussed.
