WB, IMF to complete assessment of Azerbaijan's financial sector

The World Bank (WB) plans to complete the third assessment of the financial sector of Azerbaijan as part of the FSAP (Financial Sector Assessment Program) within 2-3 months, Report informs, citing Sarah Michael, the World Bank (WB) Country Manager for Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani government has applied with a request to conduct the subsequent assessment of the country's financial sector jointly with the International Monetary Fund. The work began at the end of 2020 and will be completed within 2-3 months, said Sarah Michael.

The assessment examines the possible risks of the financial sector, identifies various measures to strengthen the financial system.

The IMF and WB conducted the first assessment of Azerbaijan's financial sector in 2003. The second assessment was carried out in 2015.
