US dollar falls in price against world currencies

The value of the US dollar against major world currencies fell on January 9 morning, Report informs referring to the auction data.

Markets expect the publication of statistics on inflation in the US this week, as well as the start of the next season of corporate reporting.

The euro against the dollar rose to $1.0675 from the previous close of $1.0644, the dollar against the yen fell to 131.7 yen from 132.07 yen. The dollar index (the exchange rate against a basket of currencies of six US trading partners) fell by 0.28% to 103.59 points.

This week the markets expect the publication of data on annual inflation in the US in December. Markets believe that the indicator continued to decline and last month was 6.5% after 7.1% in November. Inflation could slow down for the sixth month in a row after peaking at nearly 9% in June.

Markets at the same time continue to evaluate the statistics on unemployment in the US, which was published on January 6. So, in December, unemployment in the country unexpectedly decreased to 3.5% from 3.7%, and the number of people employed in non-agricultural sectors of the economy increased by 223,000, an increase of only 200,000 was predicted.
