Tajikistan, EDB ink investment agreement

An agreement was signed between the Tajik government and the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) during the official visit of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Moscow, Report informs via Tajik media.

The document envisages the allocation of an investment loan from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development to finance the project “Updating the Irrigation System”.

The signatories were the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kakhkhorzoda and the fund’s Executive Director Andrey Shirokov.

The main goal of the project is to increase the capacity of irrigation systems in Tajikistan. The project will be implemented in the Zafarabad district of the Sughd region.

The total cost of the project is $32 million and is fully financed by a concessional loan from the Eurasian Fund. Its implementation will begin in 2024 and end in 2029.
