Russia approves list of banks, transactions on which can be carried out with special permission

Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a list of 45 banks, transactions on which can only be carried out with special permission, Report informs referring to Russian media.

The list of banks from unfriendly countries includes Raiffeisenbank, Unicredit, Citibank, Deutsche Bank and OTP Bank.

On August 5, Putin banned transactions with shares of foreigners from unfriendly countries in Russian strategic enterprises and banks until December 31, 2022. The document stated that transactions made bypassing it are invalidated. In this case, operations can be carried out on the basis of a special permission of the president.

The list of countries ‘unfriendly’ to Russia includes Australia, Albania, Andorra, Bahamas, the UK, EU countries, Iceland, Canada, Liechtenstein, Micronesia, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, South Korea, San Marino, North Macedonia, Singapore, the US, Taiwan, Ukraine, Montenegro, Switzerland and Japan.
