Price of gold drops by almost $6

The price of gold on Wednesday morning fell slightly after rising the day before. Price fluctuations during the week may continue until the speeches of representatives of the US Federal Reserve System (Fed), Report informs.

The price of June futures for gold on the New York Comex exchange fell by $5.95 (0.29%) to $2,013.75 per troy ounce, a day earlier the growth was 0.7%. May silver futures fell 0.28% to $25.192 an ounce.

The Beige Book, a summary of the Fed's comments on the country's economic situation, will be released later Wednesday. The document may contain guidelines indicating the regulator's further rate policy.

The next Fed meeting is scheduled for May 2-3. According to CME Group, 84.6% of analysts expect another increase in the key rate by 25 basis points from the current level of 4.75-5% per annum.
