Most Azerbaijani banks halt money transfers from Russia

Most banks operating in Azerbaijan have suspended operations through the Russian money transfer systems Contact and Zolotaya Korona.

According to Report, banks currently do not carry out cash and non-cash transactions in rubles.

As a result, remittances from Russia to Azerbaijan and vice versa are made in other foreign currencies.

In addition, restrictions on income in ruble accounts in banks have been imposed and on expenditure from ruble accounts. The maximum limit is applied to transfers from one account in rubles to another.

However, Ivan Sitnov, director of the Zolotaya Korona money transfer service, told Report that there were no changes in the transfers:

"Zolotaya Korona operates in Azerbaijan as usual, we are in constant dialogue with our partners there. All payments are made regularly in any currency."
