Israel shatters own weapons export record

Israel's annual weapons sales have reached a new record high in 2023, marking the third consecutive year of growth and nearly doubling the export value compared to five years earlier, according to the International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT).

Report informs via The Times of Israel that Israel's defense industry exports reached $13 billion in 2023, surpassing the previous year's $12.5 billion. This remarkable growth is even more striking when compared to the period between 2018 and 2020, when the export value fluctuated between $7.5 billion and $8.5 billion.

"Despite the war, 2023 was a record-breaking year characterized by significant export deals," SIBAT stated. The largest share of exports was attributed to air defense systems, accounting for 36% of total exports, a substantial increase from 19% in 2022.
