France's national debt may reach 3.6T euros in 2027

France's debt may rise from the current 3.1 trillion euros to 3.6 trillion euros by 2027, according to France Inter radio, Report informs via TASS.

“Currently, France’s public debt is 3.1 trillion euros (about 110% of GDP), by 2027 it may reach 3.6 trillion euros,” said the head of the Court of Accounts, Pierre Moscovici.

He noted that debt servicing currently costs the republic 60 billion euros a year.

“In 2027, this amount could rise to 80 billion euros,” he added, noting that this would reduce the state’s ability to finance other areas such as “education, justice, security or the transition to a green economy.”

“The key task of the new government, whatever it may be, should be to reduce the public debt,” Moscovici added.
