Finance Minister: Azerbaijan’s non-oil&gas revenues in budget surpasses forecast

Azerbaijan’s state budget saw a 51.8-percent increase in revenue from the non-oil and gas sector in the initial four months of 2024, surpassing the projected figure by 1.5 percentage points, Finance Minister Samir Sharifov said, Report informs.

Sharifov made the remark during the discussions of a bill on amending the law "On the implementation of the 2024 state budget" at the plenary session of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) today.

"Over the course of four months, the non-oil and gas revenues of the state budget amounted to 6.867 billion manats (about $4.039 billion), which is 6.8 percent more than the same period last year," Sharifov said.

During the period from January through April 2024, Azerbaijan’s state budget reported total revenues of almost 13.26 billion manats (about $7.8 billion), with expenditures amounting to 10.75 billion manats (around $6.32 billion). These figures reflect an increase of 9 percent in revenues and 20.4 percent in expenditures compared to the same timeframe in the previous year.

Consequently, the state budget experienced a surplus of nearly 2.51 billion manats (about $1.47 billion) over the four-month span, marking a 22.4-percent decrease from the surplus reported a year earlier.
