Ernst & Young: Crypto-currencies more dangerous than we think

Baku. 25 January. REPORT.AZ/ The breakthrough in prices of crypto-currencies has made it necessary to compare them with "hopeless" shares.

Report informs citing the Russian media, Ernst & Young audit company said.

The company said that even though crypto-currencies compared with very cheap and speculative "hopeless" shares, the first one is likely to be stolen.

"The hackers succeed in stealing up to 10% of the funds involved in the initial emission (ICO).

Thus, $ 400 mln. out of $ 3.7 bln raised on account of 372 ICO’s were stolen. Internet fraud - phishing is the most common method for stealing money. With this method, $ 1.5 mln are stolen per month within the ICO", report says.

At the same time, the audit firm said that the interest in crypto-currency, the amount attracted within the ICO has diminished recently. So, in June 2017, 90% of the funds planned through ICO were attracted, but in November this figure was 25%.

Global innovation leader for blockchain technology at Ernst & Young (EY) Paul Brody said: "While ICO volumes increase, their quality has dropped. There are clash of errors and interests at ICO’s”.
