Erdogan proposes to create Russian-Turkish payment system

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will now convene the Economic headquarters in Istanbul to discuss the issue related to the use of Russian Mir cards.

Report informs, citing A Haber TV channel, that the president instructed the ministers to develop an alternative to the Mir payment system with the Russian side.

"The ministers were instructed to develop an alternative to the Mir payment system with Moscow. In the coming hours, Erdogan will hold discussions on this topic," the channel said.

In mid -September, the United States announced the possible introduction of sanctions against states that conduct operations with the Russian payment system Mir. Against this background, two Turkish banks, IS Bankasi and Denizbank, suspended cards maintenance.
