Elon Musk tells why he is interested in Dogecoin

Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk said on Twitter that he does not control Dogecoin developers.

"Please note Dogecoin has no formal organization & no one reports to me, so my ability to take action is limited," he tweeted in response to a previous post whose author called Musk the general director of Dogecoin. A Twitter user earlier wrote that Musk treats Dogecoin as one of his companies and actively promotes the currency, Report informs, citing RBK.

Earlier, the Tesla general director addressed his subscribers on Twitter and suggested that they take part in Dogecoin development. In particular, Musk proposed they send their ideas on improving the digital coin to GitHub or a column on Reddit. Musk added that someone offered to change commissions for transactions depending on the Lunar phase, calling it a great idea.

Moreover, Musk explained why he likes Dogecoin most of all projects. He said Dogecoin has memes and dogs, while others do not.

The entrepreneur surveyed his subscribers on Twitter on whether or not they would like Tesla to make it possible to buy electric cars for Dogecoin. After this publication, the cost of Dogecoin gained 17% in just a few minutes. On May 26, the survey involved nearly 4 million people. 78% of the voters supported Dogecoin as a means of payment.

The last time Musk influenced the cost of the digital currency on May 20, when he posted an image of Dogecoin, wondering about its face value. Then, the currency gained 16% in 15 minutes.
