EBRD plans to invest 2B euros in green economy projects in Kazakhstan in coming years

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to invest 2 billion euros in Kazakhstan's green economy projects in the coming years, EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso said during a meeting with Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana, Report informs.

"The parties discussed prospects for implementing several joint investment projects in various economic sectors, including small and medium businesses, finance, housing and utilities, energy, medicine, agriculture, transport infrastructure, and information technology," the report states.

Tokayev highly appreciated the strategic nature of cooperation with EBRD and its contribution to Kazakhstan's economic progress.

"The EBRD President shared plans in potential areas of cooperation aimed at promoting sustainable growth, improving the investment climate, and modernization in our country. She reported that the bank is carefully studying Kazakhstan's investment projects and expressed interest in further supporting infrastructure development. EBRD intends to invest 2 billion euros in Kazakhstan's economy in the coming years as part of the 'green' transition program," the statement says.

Renaud-Basso added that this year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will invest $650 million in Azerbaijan for the implementation of 22 projects.
