Cristina Doros appointed head of Visa's Central Asia, Azerbaijan cluster

International payment system Visa has appointed Cristina Doros the Vice President, Regional Manager Central Asia, and Azerbaijan.

Visa told Report that she took up her duties on June 1.

Following the transformational changes in the development of new technologies and the regulatory environment, Visa changed the structure of the cluster in the Caucasus and Central Asia and raised the level of the head of the sub-region of Central Asia and Azerbaijan to the level of vice president.

"In her new position, Cristina Doros will focus on developing the electronic payments business in the newly established Central Asia and Azerbaijan cluster, increasing the value of Visa for banks, merchants, and cardholders. It is a well-deserved acknowledgment of Cristina's achievements and professionalism. Cristina is an inspiring leader and mentor who supports team development and promotes a culture of recognition," said Visa's Senior Vice President and General Manager for CIS and South-Eastern Europe, Vera Platonova.

During the past five years at Visa, Cristina has held various positions in the payment solutions and business development sectors. In addition to the main products (debit, credit, and premium), she also leads the development of loyalty programs and commercial cards, which form the basis for the further spread of electronic payments. In 2019, Cristina Doros was appointed to the newly created position of Visa Regional Manager for the Caucasus region. Cristina is based in Almaty and, since June 1, has taken over the management of Visa's business in Azerbaijan and Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan).
