CBA in no hurry to introduce digital manat

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) is in no hurry to introduce digital manat in the country, CBA Director General Farid Osmanov told Report.

“Taking into account international trends, we are constantly analyzing the possibility of introducing a digital currency, but we are in no hurry to do so,” he noted.

He added that the decision to use the digital manat can be made after a comprehensive analysis.

“It is necessary to consider many aspects, assess the impact of the digital manat on both monetary policy and the economy, and also take into account cybersecurity issues. This work is being carried out by the CBA team both independently and jointly with international partners. After the analysis is fully completed, the possibilities of using digital manat will be evaluated,” Osmanov added.
