On the Binance exchange, the largest cryptocurrency exchange, as of 9:18 (GMT+4), Bitcoin fell in price by 9.44 percent, to $32,860. According to the CoinMarketCap portal, which calculates the average price for more than 20 exchanges, bitcoin is depreciating by 9.43 percent, to $32,890.
Earlier, the US FBI reported that the authorities were able to recover $2.3 million paid to hackers in bitcoins due to the attack on the Colonial Pipeline. The FBI intercepted a virtual ransom wallet, which was used by the hacker group DarkSide.
In addition, according to media reports, the US authorities are planning to introduce new rules to regulate cryptocurrencies, in particular Bitcoin, as part of the fight against ransomware. These rules will mainly focus on reducing the anonymity of transactions involving cryptocurrency, which could lead to a decrease in the number of these transactions.
