Baku airport approaches new record: over 4 million passengers in Jan.-July 2024

Heydar Aliyev International Airport continues to set new records. In July 2024, the airport served over 815,000 passengers on 6,171 flights, which is 23% more than in July last year. During this period, this figure was 663,000 people, Report informs.

Thus, 52% of passengers transported on international routes were transported by foreign airlines, and the rest by the national air carrier. Foreign airlines carried more than 380,000 passengers, Azerbaijan Airlines carried 351,000 passengers. During this period, the national air carrier carried out 745 flights in the direction of Nakhchivan, served over 85,000 passengers.

There was also a significant increase in the number of transit passengers - compared to July 2023, it almost tripled and amounted to 36 thousand people. This once again emphasizes the growing strategic importance of the Baku Airport as a transit hub.

Among the most popular international destinations from Baku are Istanbul, Moscow, Dubai, Tbilisi and Abu Dhabi. More than 320,000 passengers were transported on these routes.

In general, over 7 months of 2024, the Baku Airport served more than 4.204 million passengers, which is 36.2% more than the same period last year.
