Azerbaijan's banking sector assets up by nearly 7%

As of April 1, 2026, the assets of Azerbaijan's banking sector totaled approximately 57.133 billion manats (just over $33.6 billion), representing a 6.7% increase year-on-year (YoY), Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Net loans to customers made up just over 28.305 billion manats (just over $16.65 billion) of banks' assets. The sector's loan portfolio grew by 8.8% YoY, while the share of loans in assets rose from 48.6% to 49.5%.

In the specified period, the banking sector's liabilities increased by 6.1% to just over 49.617 billion manats (over $29.18 billion), including the deposit portfolio, which fell by 1.4% YoY to roughly 37.290 billion manats over $21.93 billion).

Of that, more than 16.865 billion manats (over $9.92 billion) are deposits of individuals, and over 20.425 billion manats (just over $12 billion) are deposits of legal entities. During the reporting period, individuals' funds in banks increased by 29.9% YoY, while companies' funds decreased by 12.4% YoY.

Over the past year, banks' liabilities to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan stood at 0.4 million manats (approximately $235,300).

The sector's balance capital increased by 10.3% YoY, exceeding 7.515 billion manats (just over $4.42 billion).
