As of May 1, 2025, the assets of Azerbaijan's banking sector amounted to just over 54.607 billion manats (just over $32.12 billion), representing a 10.9% increase year-on-year (YoY), Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
Net loans to customers made up just over 26.44 billion manats ($15.554 billion) of banks' assets. The sector's loan portfolio grew by 13.9% YoY, while the share of loans in assets increased from 47.2% to 48.4%.
In the specified period, the banking sector's liabilities increased by 11% to more than 47.625 billion manats (approximately $28 billion), including the deposit portfolio, which rose by 3.9% YoY to approximately 36.747 billion manats (just over $21.616 billion).
Of this, over 14.548 billion manats ($8.557 billion) are deposits of individuals, and about 22.2 billion manats (nearly $13.06 billion) are deposits of legal entities. During the reporting period, individuals' funds in banks rose by 10.1% YoY, while companies' funds grew by 0.2% YoY.
Over the past year, banks' liabilities to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan decreased by 94.2 times, reaching 0.5 million manats ($294,117).
The sector's balance capital increased by 10.4% YoY to roughly 6.98 billion manats (just over $4.1 billion).
