Azerbaijan ranks third among 133 countries in public financial management

Azerbaijan has achieved a strong result in public financial management in the Chandler Good Government Index 2026 (CGGI 2026) published by the Chandler Governance Group, Report informs, citing the country's Ministry of Finance.

According to the ministry, Azerbaijan ranked third among 133 countries in the index's Financial Stewardship category, behind only Singapore and Norway.

The Financial Stewardship assessment was based on three indicators: budget surplus, government spending efficiency, and public debt.

Azerbaijan posted strong results across all three indicators, ranking: 1st in budget surplus, 16th in government spending efficiency, and 26th in public debt.

It was noted that countries that perform strongly in the Financial Stewardship category, including Azerbaijan, demonstrate that effective public financial management, budget discipline, and fiscal transparency are key governance factors in delivering better outcomes for citizens and supporting economic development.
