Azerbaijan joins Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action

The Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan has been accepted as a full member of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, Report informs, citing the ministry.

The Coalition includes 92 finance ministers and has partnerships with 26 international organizations that provide technical and advisory support for developing and implementing climate change policies.

In April 2024, the Ministry of Finance participated as an observer in the 11th meeting of the Coalition during the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C.

Azerbaijan’s full membership in the Coalition, which often aligns its activities with COP events, is expected to significantly contribute to achieving the goals of the COP29 presidency.

The next Coalition meeting will be held next month in Washington during the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group.

Additionally, a preliminary agreement has been reached to hold a special Coalition meeting during the “Finance Day” of the COP29 Conference, which Azerbaijan will host in November.
