As of February 1, 2023, the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan amounted to 13,488,000, up 1.7% from a month earlier, and 19.7% from a year ago, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
The number of debit cards in Azerbaijan increased by 18.3% to 11.634 million over the past year, and the number of credit cards soared by 28.8% to 1.854 million. The turnover of these cards amounted to 4.891 billion manats ($2.88 billion) (53.2% more than a year earlier) and 408 million manats ($240 million) (47.8% more), respectively.
In January 2023, the amount of non-cash transactions with payment cards in Azerbaijan doubled to 2.647 billion ($1.56 billion).
As of February 1, 2023, there were 3,077 ATMs (3.2% more than in the same period of 2022) in Azerbaijan.
Some 1,618 ATMs are in Baku and 1,355 - in the regions.
The number of POS terminals went up 29.5% to 79,880, with 53,799 in Baku.
