Average salary of women in Azerbaijan to be raised to at least 80% of average salary of men

By 2026, the average monthly salary of women will be raised to at least 80% of the average monthly salary of men in Azerbaijan, Samira Musayeva, deputy head of the State Tax Service under the Economy Ministry of Azerbaijan, said at the forum on "New opportunities on the horizon: Green light for women entrepreneurs" held in Baku, Report informs.

"Increasing the value of women's labor is one of the main priorities in the country today. In the 2022-2026 socio-economic development strategy, the correct assessment of women's work was set as one of the main goals for ensuring social justice in a dynamic, inclusive society. The development of women in the entrepreneurial environment, financial accessibility, creation of wide opportunities for using electronic services are among the goals. This is an issue that depends on both society and the interaction of state bodies," Musayeva said.

According to Musa Guliyev, Chairman of the Labor and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis (parliament), the salary of a woman working in the same position in the world today is 80% of a man's pay. In Azerbaijan, this indicator is only 63%.
