Assets of Azerbaijan’s Central Bank up by 17%

As of January 1, 2023, the assets of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) amounted to 30,861.987 million manats (roughly $18.15 billion), 16.85% more than a year ago, Report informs.

Of this, 22,019.990 million manats ($12.95 billion) are debt securities (26.8% more than last year), 6,583.022 million manats ($6.58 billion) are cash and cash equivalents (-3.7%), 1,196.216 million manats ($703.68 million) are Special Drawing Rights with the IMF(-4.9%), and 288.89 million manats ($169.94 million) were loans to banks (-18.9%).

In 2022, the CBA's total liabilities rose by 18.4% to 29,881.196 million manats ($17.58 billion), including the value of money in circulation by 19.5% to 14,714.360 million manats ($8.66 billion). Amounts due to credit institutions decreased by 17.1% to 6,169.718 million manats ($3.63 billion), amounts due to government organizations increased by 6.9% to 4,280.227 million manats ($2.52 billion), and liabilities on transactions with the IMF decreased by 4.9% to 1,199.372 million manats ($705.53 million).

During the year, the total equity of CBA decreased by 16.2% to 980.791 million manats ($576.94 million), while the charter capital remained unchanged at 500 million manats ($294.12 million).
