France rejects applications of Russian volunteers for accreditation to Olympics

French authorities have rejected applications for accreditation for the Olympic Games from more than 20 Russians who were planning to go to Paris as volunteers, according to one of the female contenders who received a written refusal from the Paris 2024 organizing committee, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Yesterday I received an official letter from the organizing committee, which said that the French authorities did not approve my application as a volunteer for the Olympics,” she said, who previously worked as a volunteer at five summer and winter Games. “I contacted more than 20 Russians, with whom I have attended more than one Olympics and who also submitted volunteer applications. All these people with extensive experience also received a refusal.”

According to her, the Organizing Committee did not name the reasons why the French authorities rejected her application.

The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. According to the organizers’ plans, about 45,000 volunteers should be involved in the competition.
