Zero emission day in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan

In the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, 130,000 cubic meters of natural gas were saved in one day, Nakhchivan's State Energy Service told Report.

On October 11, the autonomous republic's electricity demand of 947,508 kWh was fully met by green energy. Compared to other days, approximately 130,000 cubic meters of natural gas were saved, and carbon emissions dropped to zero on that day.

According to the energy service, taking these steps within the framework of COP29 will lead to more efficient use of alternative energy sources in Nakhchivan.

"To combat climate change caused by global warming, we must be more sensitive to the environment, prevent wasting electricity, use it economically, and avoid littering in order to keep the environment clean and leave a cleaner and more livable world for future generations," the service's statement says.
