Wood Mackenzie: Kazakhstan should develop surface logistics to boost oil exports

Kazakhstan should develop surface logistics to increase the volume of crude oil exports, Ian Simm, Director in Wood Mackenzie's Consulting Division, stated at the Caspian and Central Asian Oil Trade and Transportation Forum in Baku, Report informs.

"The Caspian and Central Asian region is located in the center of Eurasia - a place where East meets West and has extensive opportunities. However, it is here that supply chains often face serious difficulties. There can sometimes be challenges in delivering oil and petroleum products to foreign markets. This is perhaps one of the main tasks facing us today," he noted.

Simm emphasized that for Kazakhstan to be able to increase oil exports via the Caspian Sea, the country should focus on developing its surface logistics infrastructure: "Central Asia has unique opportunities. However, it faces serious challenges related to its geographical position and limited access to international markets."
